TITLE: “Consequences of Internal Waves of Dark Matter: From Structure Formation to Dwarf Kinematics”
SPEAKER: Jiashuo Zhang (DIPC, Donostia)
ABSTRACT: Wave dark matter (waveDM), composed of ultralight particles with astronomical de Broglie wavelengths, as generically predicted by the String Axiverse, is replacing heavy particle CDMs as the most popular dark matter model. In this talk, we show a single waveDM particle with mass ~10−22 eV can jointly explain observations at two extremes: (a) the tight sequence spanned by local dwarf galaxies, arising from internal DM wave dynamics that consistently deflect and puff up stellar orbits, suggesting a common origin for different dwarf classes; and (b) the apparent impasse in galaxy formation at z ~ 15, where quantum pressure suppresses runaway gravitational collapse even in the densest peaks, leading to a Cosmic Daybreak picture. We also discuss testable predictions as JWST and Euclid observations accumulate.
